Sato Project fundraiser to help Puerto Rico’s doomed dogs

This weekend’s New York Times had a great profile of Brooklynite Chrissy Beckles, a one-time Golden Gloves boxing champion who recently founded The  Sato Project, a rescue organization that works to rescue dogs abandoned and left for dead on the beaches of Puerto Rico. Her organization transports the dogs to the states, rehabilitates them, and then works to find them homes.  Those interested in helping out should scoop up a ticket to the Sato Project’s first fundraiser: a brunch in Rockville Centre on April 22. The event will feature door prizes, auctions and a raffle. For more information, email MerylWright@aol.com. Tickets are $40.
